Abstract

Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996 immunizes internet service providers from liability for tortious postings by third party users. In light of this broadly interpreted liability shield, this article discusses new online business models that attempt to profit from defamatory postings while hiding behind the law as it stands.
