Abstract

This case provides a context for discussing the GM PICOS team approach to supplier-cost reductions from the perspective of a member of the team who realizes his recommendations could displace a lot of supplier employees. Instructors should consider two companion cases, "General Motors (B): Ignacio Lopez" (UVA-E-0088) and "General Motors (C): Mike Ross" (UVA-E-0089).

Keywords: cost control, ethical issues, diverse protagonist, female, diversity in the workplace, operations management, diversity case
