Abstract

This article sets out the European perspective on attorney-client privilege and confidentiality and is based on a presentation made at the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers (APRL) Fifth International Conference held April 5th to May 8th, 2008 in Amsterdam. The aim is to provide a general overview of how attorney-client privilege is constructed, protected, and perceived in Europe.
