Abstract
Nowadays, in the energetic field, the European Union must face a great challenge, that is to say it should counterbalance the increasing demand of energy and the need to protect the environment which has been affected by gas emissions resulted from the production of energy. Being caught in an unfair struggle with countries outside the European Union, such as China and India, countries that are not hedged in with regulations legislations which imply additional expenditures as far as the production of a much 'cleaner' energy is concerned, the European Union finds itself in the situation in which it must find quick and efficient solutions so that the energy produced within the Union would be competitive with any other form of energy outside the Union, on condition it preserves the environment.
