Abstract

Financial inclusion has been a buzzword for the policymakers for a long time. Having realized that financial inclusion paves the path for a sustainable economic growth and development in a country like India, attempts have been made by the government to bring large sections of the rural population within the banking system. This article analyzes the efforts made by the government of India in the implementation of financial inclusion, identifies the barriers in the process and suggests strategies to ensure maximum financial inclusion for the underprivileged and unbanked areas.
