Abstract

The case is made that William James's moral orientation was radically different than that of John Dewey and Richard Rorty, the two most notorious Pragmatist philosophers since James. Specifically, it is argued that James, unlike the others, was not a moral relativist and that his moral philosophy is in fact fully compatible with natural law theory.
