Abstract

Candida G. Brush has made an enormouscontribution tothe field of international entrepreneurship. This articleprovides an extensive literature review of Ms. Brush's work, includinginterviews with Ms. Brush describing her motives and findings. Initially, Ms.Brush's early research interests are explored, including her motivation tofocus her graduate dissertation on the impact of firm age and size on firmperformance in an international market. Following this research, she addressedissues of conceptualization and boundaries in the field of internationalentrepreneurship. Brush states that her research concentrates on the following three themes:(1) the resources and strategies impacting global expansion and small firmperformance; (2) the performance of female entrepreneurs in differentcountries; and (3) per the Diana Project, the relationship between women whoseek funding and the venture capital industry in several countries.Herresearch studies on these three themes are examined, and the implications ofher research are contemplated. Ms. Brush's recommendations for areas of future research are described,including the need for new levels of analysis within internationalentrepreneurship.A summary of Ms. Brush's contributions to the field ofinternational entrepreneurship is provided.(AKP)
