'Doc'

Abstract

A brief tale concerning a doctor who has taken to living on the street, but nonetheless finds himself summoned to jury duty in a murder trial. Doc purposefully prolongs the deliberations for as long as possible so as to avoid the winter weather and collect as much per diem pay as he can get away with. Despite the main character’s charade and the consequences stemming from it, “Doc” provides a window through which the reader may view the irony of subjective conceptions of right and wrong.
