Abstract
Amidst the revelry in Hanoi at the end of the Vietnam War, a soldier struggles to forget the past and “move on” as the leitmotif of his countrymen requests. Van Mahn, seeks out a famous photographer to request a photograph taken of the love he lost in the war. In his pursuit of this piece of memorabilia Van realizes just how much he has sacrificed for his country. Though his comrades would have him “move on,” Van furiously begins to recognize how much of his sacrifice has been in vain.
