Abstract
This chapter consider the law on the naming of children. It provides a feminist critique of the current law and practice of naming. It argues that the current approach of the courts attaches too much weight to the wishes of fathers who seek to force children to retain the paternal name. It advocates the use of double surnames in cases where a parental agreement cannot be reached.
