Abstract

AIMR-PPSTM standards are sweeping the globe as the Performance Presentation Standards for money managers. The author has found that Plan Sponsors are also starting to use AIMR-PPS standards even though they are not designed specifically to fit them. The author supports using AIMR-PPS for Plan Sponsors since he believes stakeholders in all pension plans deserve fair apple to apple comparisons between internal and external money managers. The author however warns against the incorrect use of AIMR-PPS standards like he found with a major public pension plans.
