Abstract

The electronic government has been developed from the decade of the 90 as a governmental tool to support its function as citizen servant. Besides the increasing tendency to apply classic concepts of management in the public scope, it is key to identify the Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) as a support element and not as an aim, in order to improve the decision making process executed by the public managers. In order to justify this asseveration, the basic concepts related to electronic government and its international relevance are presented, to finish challenging our leaders to take advantage of this tool to approach the citizenship.
