Abstract

This article explores the use of international human rights principles and instruments in domestic language access advocacy. Author Alanen addresses the scope and gravity of the U.S. language access crisis, the challenges of achieving linguistic integration, the ways in which language access barriers can exacerbate some immigrants' unique vulnerability to victimization, and the devastating impact of language access barriers on the healthcare and justice systems.
