Abstract

For more than ten years, Eritrea has become one of the top asylum-seekers generating countries. This is a compilation of findings of asylum determining tribunals on applications for asylum from Eritreans. The aim of the compilation is to provide the new generation of Eritrean asylum-seekers with some important guidelines. The compilation covers important cases from the United Kingdom, the European Court of Human Rights, Australia and the United States of America. Considering the big number of Eritrean asylum-seekers in the United Kingdom and the rest of Europe over which the decision of the European Court of Human Rights is influential, the compilation is hoped to have some importance. In addition, in trying to protect the economy of their countries from desperate people from the less developed world and in striving to make justice to those who need a safe haven, these tribunals have been examining the reality in Eritrea in depth. Until better equipped historians emerge, these cases have thus historical significances.
