Abstract
This article describes the shortcomings of current alternate dispute resolution mechanisms employed within the Canadian Forces for resolving performance appraisal disputes, and examines the desirability and feasibility of implementing a new scheme wherein such disputes could be mediated by neutral outsiders. Ultimately, the article concludes that neutral mediation would offer significant advantages over current ADR processes, in part because mediation could aid in fostering and improving superior-subordinate working relations.
