Abstract

This note focuses on the International Human Rights Law Group and the Women’s Rights Project of Human Rights Watch as U.S. based international human rights nongovernmental organizations (INGOs). The authors worked for these groups and have used their experience to develop key points in how INGOs should change their operations in order to further their goals. Further, the article argues the African NGOs should seek to build broad-based local constituencies as opposed to being based entirely on support from more powerful countries.
