Abstract

This 36-page 2010 CLE (continuing legal education) brochure is titled “Criminal Practitioners: Ethics & Conflicts.” It was presented to public defenders. It analyzes ethical obligations and conflict issues affecting both prosecutors and defense counsel in criminal cases. Topics include (1) attorney-client relationship, (2) right to counsel, (3) effective assistance of counsel, (4) conflict of interest, (5) denial of or interference with a Defendant’s constitutional rights, (6) attorney as advocate, (7) attorney as officer of the court, (8) attorney as witness, (9) responsibilities of a prosecutor, and (10) discovery in criminal cases.
