Abstract

This review of anthropologist Sarah S. Lochlann Jain's recent book argues that Jain's approach to studying U.S. tort law and American injury culture is creative, ambitious, and ultimately quite insightful. Jain's work is discussed in the context of a growing interdisciplinary interest among torts scholars to examine the social and cultural meanings of tort law, including the intersections of tort law with race, class, gender, and power.
