Abstract

Nanotechnology is the design, characterization, production and application of structures, devices and systems by controlling shape and size at the nanoscale. It is the understanding and control of matter at dimensions of roughly 1 to 100 nanometres, where unique phenomena enable novel applications. Nanotechnology is highly interdisciplinary, involving physics, chemistry, biology, materials science, and the full range of the engineering disciplines. Despite its emergent nature, the commercial impact of nanotechnology is already being felt.Nanotechnology is one of the emerging areas of application and several innovations have been made in products and processes related to nanotechnology. This paper is an attempt to analyse and highlight the various aspects related to the patent protection of nanotech inventions.
