Abstract

This paper encompasses historical trends and the development of the theory of white collar crime. An attempt was made to deconstruct from the various relevant literature. Intentionality and premeditation; deception; misuse of employer's funds; perpetrated by executives and the fundamental abuse of trust. These elements were then synthesized into a definition that is viable for research. This has particular reference to the selection of cases to be interviewed.

Keywords: fraud, case selection, executives, white collar crime
