Analysis of Semiotic in the Comic Strips Benny & Mice Serial 'Lagak Jakarta 100 Character Coloring Jakarta' as Urban Society Phenomenon

Abstract

Many people acknowledged that cartoon as a symbolic part of art illustration has been exist since hundred years ago which is, able to give a special social phenomenon characteristic. It means that in creative process of cartoonists pursue to create a contextual meaning within Jakarta local society culture. Benny Rachmadi (Benny) and Muhammad Misrad (Mi-Ce) who represented a figure from cartoonist, which both of them have deeper analysis, until people think and call it as anthropology (par excellent). This research does have goals to create the symbolized meaning exits in their comic. The serial comic strip of “Lagak Jakarta 100 Character Coloring Jakarta,” used to explore social phenomenon of Jakarta urban society problems, especially for Jakarta people, which have interaction with Jakarta’s middle class life style.
