Abstract

Human Development is a globally accepted issue. Presently, 177 countries of the world are giving attention to this issue. Naturally, all the developed countries are well equipped with a high level of human development and as a result, they are far more advance in almost all front of competition. After liberalization, almost all the countries of the world have embraced the competition. A few Asian tigers are showing their competence in the developmental arena those are considered as Rapidly Developing Countries (RDCs). These RDCs are- Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Korea. At the same time, most of the countries of Asia are developing and underdeveloped, trying to follow overall Asian growth trajectory under the competitive regime. India is a developing country, well known for its human resources and the competitive drive undertaken after the liberalization. Under the competitive regime how Indian subcontinent is performing its role for translating the commitment into action, needs a fresh look. Similarly how to sustain the human development efforts to translate from the development from development is a matter of serious question.

The basic aim of the study is to conflate the present state of India’s Human Development in contrast to state of competition and economic transition of Asia. To achieve the aim the present paper attempted to achieve a few objectives, these are - To draw a picture of India’s human development performance in contrast to the countries of different regions of Asia; To examine the direction of India’s human development in the light of competition and economic transition and competition in Asia; to explore how to initiate HRD for sustainable human development for India to fit the future direction of competition in Asia.

The study conducted through the desk research method. Attempted to draw inferences from reports of Asian Development, UNDP, World Bank and triangulated through the blending of views of multi-angled literatures and data analysis as felt fit to the context.
