Abstract

This paper analyzes the fundamental qualities of a successful leader. A leader is needed in every organizational set-up ranging from business organizations to political organizations and a statesman. Besides some disciplinary specialties, successful leaders in almost all disciplines demonstrate almost similar qualities. One of the best qualities of leaders is that they rationalize and legitimize power. On the other hand, power brokers assume the position of a leader through manipulating the rational and legitimate system and state apparatuses. These two approaches produce vastly different processes. These approaches and processes in fact provide touchstones for distinguishing democratic and autocratic leaders. It is not the word “democracy” but the professed approaches and processes that distinguish democracy from all other way of life and standards. In short, a leader avoids inefficient outcomes and produces a rational image of power for efficient and optimal outcomes.
