Abstract
Introduction to the quatrains (rubaiyyat) of the twelfth-century poetess Mahsati of Ganja. Although less well-known that her Omar Khayyam, Mahsati's quatrains compete in intellectual brilliance with those of her more famous counterpart and for their bold rejection of social mores. Includes translations of several quatrains.
Keywords: poetry, Persian, women writers, translation, medieval, sexuality
