Abstract

Since the early 1990s, Indian policy makers have been nourishing the goal of socialist pattern of society following the development planning strategy in a mixed economic framework. In the face of an unprecedented foreign exchange crisis, Indian economy started experiencing different reform packages. One aspect of this is financial liberalization. Attempts are made to attract foreign direct investment in different sectors. There is an increasing entry of foreign portfolio capital due to stock market liberalization. People are encouraged to invest in stocks through income tax benefits and abolition of capital gains tax. Therefore, it is expected that boosting up of stock market will accelerate the process of capital accumulation and growth.

In the present work, a sincere effort is made to know the investment strategies of investors of Orissa in co-operating with the so-called mainstream economy by drawing empirical concluding remarks on their confidence on various investment alternatives. It is basically a survey kind of research work with a questionnaire to get some meaningful feedbacks believed to be true, correct and complete. Needless to say that the goal of active investment management is to earn a true and timely return that exceeds the return. Hence the entire analysis is broadly based on different strategies based on fundamental analysis, technical analysis, market anomalies and attributes.
