Abstract

Central to the long-term success of the firm is its capacity to recognise new growth paradigms, exploit internal knowledge stock, and manage internal contradictions during the process of evolution. All through this journey the firm has to ask itself whether a particular initiative is heading towards achieving the larger strategic objective of enhancing the firm’s overall value proposition. The firm also has to decide what initiatives and how many of them it should nurture so that it gives them a certain competitive edge over rivals? This case unravels the evolution of Wipro Consulting Services within Wipro Technologies - it’s parent firm. While looking at the emergence of consulting capability within Wipro, and how this evolved into a distinctive value proposition, it raises the issues of optimal positioning, business model and organization design.
