Abstract

All legal researchers need to address a number of issues: Does this source answer my question? Is it a good source to use? Could I choose to use something else? If I can't find what I hoped for, is there something else that will do?

In this brief essay, I reflect on this cluster of issues. Most of the examples involve a reference librarians looking for an answer for someone else, but the issues are equally important for researchers doing legal research for their own projects.

Keywords: legal research, reference, librarianship, law librarians
