Abstract

In India the water resources are the most important resources which serve around 67% of the total population through irrigation for the purpose of farming. With the development of economy the need for better utilization of natural water resources through dams for industrial, electricity, etc arose at the cost of irrigation. In this paper the author in Part I give a brief description about the Indian past and present scenario. In Part II the water laws and federal water bodies in India which are responsible for the management of water resources are elaborated. Part III detailed the conflicts and settlement mechanisms that applied by the Indian tribunals and the decides cases studies in Part IV. The author also takes a reality or myth argument in Part V for the Interlinking of Rivers in India. Finally in Part VI the author concludes.
