Abstract
This paper evaluates the successes and failures of the unique Swedish policy on prostitution and whether it would work in India. The two ingredients of the Swedish policy: legalization of prostitution and criminalization of buying sex have been analyzed separately in the Indian context, focusing on the pros and cons of each aspect. Finally, the feasibility of implementing the Swedish model in India has been examined.
