Abstract
Since the financial crisis, many political leaders (and indeed social scientists in universities) have called for putting economics in its place and redirecting support to other disciplines. The concerns are that economists are too axiomatic, too doctrinaire, and too unwilling to learn from other disciplines. But this is actually the time to increase support for broad-gauged economic research substantially in my view. And there are scholars and agendas that could benefit from and quickly deliver results from this support.
