Abstract

Based on a set of goals and inbuilt values, the knowledge society is being shaped under the openness of national economies, cultures and cutting-edge technologies.

Therefore, this paper aims to explore the nature of globalisation from a multidimensional perspective, its effects over democratic systems, citizenship standards, national states and their law systems.

This study is divided into three sections. The first analyses the capitalist industrial society's decline in connection with the disintegration of modern civilization paradigms and the emergence of a new society based upon knowledge sharing and human capital.

Subsequently, it analyses globalization's economic, financial, technological, social and cultural aspects, the emergence of a global civil society, and the redefinition of citizenship beyond national boundaries.

Finally, it examines globalization's influence over the reconfiguration of the national state's role as a formal-logic rule system and the internationalization of legal structures, forms, and procedures, under the American legal model drive.

In conclusion, it suggests that the industrial capitalist society's values and institutions are disintegrating amidst contradiction and paradoxes fostered by the globalization, which might badly affect the knowledge society's bases. Importantly, the magnitude of these changes have drastically altered the legal services market and even the way the law systems reproduce themselves in Europe and in most Western societies.
