Abstract
Discusses corporate social responsibility in the context of the 2008 global financial crisis. Considers the failure of corporate governance as one of the causes of the crisis. Examines how company law might be used to promote corporate social responsibility, noting in particular the concept of the enlightened shareholder value principle enshrined in the Companies Act 2006 s.172.
