Abstract

Reading theory informs us that we read different documents in different ways. We can’t just hand a person an unfamiliar text and tell them, “read this” and expect satisfactory results. We have to teach them how to read it. This article is a “think-through” that breaks the process of reading a contract into five distinct steps and guides the reader through each step.

Keywords: contract, drafting, reading, reading theory
