Abstract

India's Universal Service Obligation Fund has launched a wide variety of schemes aimed at public and individual access to telecommunications facilities in rural and remote areas. These include schemes for shared rural mobile infrastructure and services, broadband services, shared optic fibre networks etc. The Fund is also undertaking innovative schemes in the areas of renewable energy and access to ICTs and ICT enabled services for rural women and disabled populations.
