Abstract

At Thomas M. Cooley Law School, a large cadre of adjunct professors blends teaching with active careers on the bench and in a great variety of practice settings. To show its gratitude for their dedicated service, in 1997 the law school created the Frederick J. Griffith III Adjunct Faculty Award, which is bestowed annually on one or more outstanding adjunct professors. These remarks, by the chair of the Griffith Award Selection Committee, explain the origin of the award and the selection criteria.

Keywords: adjunct faculty, teaching award
