Abstract

This outline covers significant developments in federal income taxation along with related topics that the author finds interesting, curious, or worthy of comment. It is not intended to provide exhaustive coverage, but it offers a selective treatment of items likely to interest practitioners and advisers within a broad range of professional practices. Information discussed includes events from the prior year through November 14, 2011. The outline was presented at the South Dakota Bar Association's Tax Update XXXIII CLE held on December 9, 2011. A prior version was prepared for the 49th Annual Great Plains Tax Institute in Omaha, Nebraska on December 1, 2011.
