Abstract

This paper investigates the legal framework on inventory making under the ICH Convention through the lens of the Brothers Grimm, Perrault and Basile. This investigation does not attempt to critique these or any other collector of fairy tales. At the end, each deals with intangible cultural heritage within a specific time framework, with its own peculiarities. Rather, this investigation seeks to define boundaries set forth by the ICH Convention in relation to inventory making. Possible insights into the purpose of inventories, design, and administration of inventories, would endow secondary value to this chapter.

Keywords: intangible cultural heritage, inventories, fairy tales, safeguarding, inventory making
