Abstract

Deck carriage has traditionally been excluded from the application of the law on sea carriage. Yet, developments involving containerized sea carriage undermined the rationale for separate regulation of deck carriage of goods by sea. Ethiopian courts have troubles in interpreting the law on deck carriage. Also, it is high time Ethiopia change its law on deck carriage of cargo for some practical reasons.
