Abstract

The Voice of the Arabs radio program was one of the most prominent instrument known to the Arab World. The radio was one of the most influential media tool in Arab media history. Its message played a significant role in changing the map of Arab politics in 1950s, creating the concept of Arab Nationalism and marked the real beginning of media politics in the Arab world. This paper studies how the radio was used to spread propaganda and create large-scale ideological campaigns against perceived enemies (imperialist and colonialist) of national security, sovereignty, and political monopoly. Also, this paper investigates the elements of political power in The Voice of the Arabs radio program especially in war and its impact on the international masses. Finally, how the radio show reflected diplomatically and politically on other Arab countries as well as on the West, then, how the U.K. and the U.S. responded to the radio.
