Abstract

This article address the initial impact of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Plain Language Consumer Contract Act (Act), effective June 23, 1994, Pennsylvania is not unique. Pennsylvania has now joined the ranks of several other states which enacted similar consumer legislation years ago. The article also discusses the review procedures implemented by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General for preapproval of contracts, documents or leases covered by the Act. Specific sections of the Act, in terms of transactions covered and transactions excluded are reviewed. Finally, the article addresses "Plain English" practice pointers.
