Abstract
When we think of mental illness, most people think of insanity and the violence that is sometimes accompanied by it. However, a closer look at this issue we find that there are wonderful things that can come out of mental illness such as creativity, heightened senses that help us avoid danger and pure genius. One of the most common mood disorders is depression, paranoia and schizophrenia. Bipolar disease combines depression and mania. All paranoia is not illusion but a defense mechanism to protect for predisposition to threats whether perceived or realized. Schizophrenia borderlines insanity and being a genius. Manic depression puts a person on a roller coaster life filled with two extremes; either a down on your luck and withdrawn from depression or euphoria which is on the opposite end of this spectrum. However, some forms of psychological disorders are due to substance or alcohol abuse and can mimic these diseases. These diseases hardly go away without help or intervention, but they sometimes do depending on a diagnosis of whether or not there is a biological reason such as a chemical imbalance or just a cognitive reason affecting behavioral and coping skills. This paper reflects on the life of crazy people and the amazing stories of true talent and genius that are just on the opposite spectrum of violence and pure insanity.
