Abstract
The paper shows some reflections about the teaching and researching role in communication studies, from a sociological perspective. What is the contribution that social science can offer to a critical thinking on communication in contemporary society? Following a pragmatic and a constructivist point of view, the author proposes to go beyond the technical definition of marketing and communication. She wants to highlight the importance of studying the influence of the social interaction order and of the social building processes in the collective meanings.
