Abstract

This is a Review-Essay of Andrew Fraser's dense but interesting book, 'The Spirit of the Laws: Republicanism and the Unfinished Project of Modernity'. The book aims provide a prescription for a new approach to Constitution building. This prescription is not well grounded, in my view, in political-constitutional reality - but it is thought provoking.
