Abstract

Serbia is a candidate to integration in the European Union. In this perspective, important transformations have been observed in recent years in the economy. The paper assesses three important aspects that may ease the accession, namely the diversity of economic activities, the diversification of output produced, respectively the economic structure. The analysis concludes that diversity has improved significantly in the last few years, but the diversity remains low. At the same time, the economic structure of activities and industries is changing rapidly, showing a tendency of convergence towards the EU economic configuration.
