Abstract
The study assesses strategies of various developmental organizations in Abbottabad to incorporate gender in Project management. Gender mainstreaming refers to involve men and women equally in various processes of management, administration and decision making within the institutes and organizations. Gender issues could be integrated in the design, implementation and evaluation of projects, if they addressed distinctly at initiating phases of project. Projects that do not considers the differing needs of men and women and their social, economic, cultural, linguistic perceptions during all phases of project will run in risk of ineffective, inefficient and unsustainable outcomes. Worldwide gender mainstreaming have a significant place in project management, this study assess that how much gender mainstreaming conceived while designing projects. The study focus on developmental organizations in Abbottabad because of variety of projects they have depending upon their location. This is census based research because of various limitations attached with data collection whole population considered to reduce the chances of maximum error. Data analysis performed by descriptive statistics, bar and pie graphs and hypothesis tested by correlation and regression. The results show that there are strategies at national level and various international commitments as well. Moreover, a five year project also implemented successfully by UNDP to spread the awareness of gender mainstreaming and to make the organizations to adopt gender mainstreaming in their policies, planning and managements. However, primary data analysis shows that employers are aware of gender mainstreaming and have aptitude about gender mainstreaming, but due to no implementation of designed national level policies, both genders feel lot of problems regarding the fulfillment of their duties. These problems create stress and frustration and deteriorate the effectiveness of employers work that ultimately impact badly on overall efficiency of organizations.
