Abstract

This paper provides an overview of how Palestinian-led international law and human rights advocacy has drawn a reaction framed within a strategy of 'lawfare.' It seeks to highlight how the failure of the international community to uphold respect for Palestinian rights has prompted a campaign by which violence against civilians and civilian infrastructure can be legitimised through a reversal of the humanitarian elements of international law.

Keywords: Palestine, Israel, Goldstone, UN, lawfare, universal jurisdiction, NGO, human rights, proportionality, criminal, humanitarian, international law
