Abstract
In 2002 this story won second place in the clinical legal education association’s annual creative writing contest. The story examines the value of using stories to cope with death and other rational and irrational fears. My father constructed a story to cope with the loss of his grandfather. He later used the characters he created in that story to teach me lessons about tolerance and caution growing up. When my father died, I wrote this story with my father's characters to come to terms with his death.
