Abstract

This article discusses how Carol Dweck's research in developmental psychology can be used to teach our students to approach feedback and roadblocks as exciting opportunities for growth rather than as pronouncements about their innate intellectual abilities. Dweck's extensive research links a growth-oriented mindset as critical to academic and career success and confirms that the mindset is teachable.
