Abstract
Azerbaijan is Turkey’s largest economical partner in the Caucasus region. The legal framework of Turkish-Azeri bilateral commercial and economic relations consists of a number of agreements, including Agreement on Enhancing Economic and Technical Cooperation (1992), Agreement on Mutual Promotion and Protection of Investments (1994) and Double Taxation Prevention Treatment (1994). Azerbaijan ranked 18th among Turkey's most preferred exports destinations in 2011. Turkish exports to Azerbaijan in 2011 was average $3 billions, The top exports categories for 2011 were: metallic products); electric machines miscellaneous manufactured articles machinery and equipment used in different industries and plastic products In terms of merchandise trade, Azerbaijan ranked 69th among Turkey's importers in 2011. Turkish imports from Azerbaijan totaled 2 billion $ in 2011. The top 5 imports categories for 2011 were: natural gas and petroleum gas ($1.1 billion); coal and petroleum products, non-ferrous metals; plastic materials and organic chemical products In merchandise trade, trade surplus with Turkey was $677 million in 2011 and trade balance was $5 billion. Azerbaijan offers attractive opportunities for Turkish contractors. Turkish firms have undertaken 285 projects worth $6 billions in Azerbaijan to date. As of the end of December 2011, the volume of Turkish investments in Azerbaijan was approximately $6 billion and Azerbaijan’s investments in Turkey approximately amounted to $5 billion. Additionally, the research gives information about the investment Turkish Capital in Azerbaijan Economy or Azerbaijan Capital Turkey by sector.
