Abstract

This paper explores the impact of intellectual capital on new product development performance. The study is conducted on more than 200 public companies from the USA and Russia over the period 2005-2009. The authors employ panel data analysis to discover the specific intangible drivers of innovation performance for developed and developing countries. The findings reveal that, with the exception of human capital, all types of intellectual capital have a significantly positive relationship with product innovations. The influence of human capital on innovation performance was justified using fixed effect model specification. Moreover, the study confirms that the companies in developing countries have more incentive to their intangibles through new product development.
